Who we are
Vikela is made by Auxo Digital (Pty) Ltd, South Africa ("Auxo", "we"). We are the responsible party for the personal information described here under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). When a business uses Vikela for its team, that business decides who gets an account and we process its people's information on its behalf.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising trackers, and nothing loaded from other companies' servers. Fonts are served from our own domain.
- Our hosting provider (Vercel) handles each request to deliver the page and keeps short technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.
- If you email us to request early access, we use what you send only to reply and set up your account.
The Vikela vault
- Your vault contents are end-to-end encrypted. Passwords, usernames, item names, notes, files and codes are locked on your device. We can't read them.
- What we do hold: your email address, your name if you give it, which teams you belong to, the number, type, size and dates of your items, your devices and IP addresses, an event log, and the website names our server fetches icons for. The security page has the full list.
- Why: to run your account, keep it secure, show you and your team admins an activity history, and contact you about your account.
- Where: on servers Auxo controls. Encrypted backups are also kept with Cloudflare R2, which may store data outside South Africa; backups contain only what the server holds, so vault contents stay encrypted.
- How long: while your account is open. After you delete your account, its data leaves our backups as they roll off, after after at most 12 months.
- We don't sell your information and don't use it for advertising.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email support@auxodigital.africa with "Vikela privacy" in the subject. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
If something goes wrong
If we learn that personal information has been accessed without permission, we'll tell the Information Regulator and the people affected as soon as we reasonably can, as POPIA requires.
